The Arizona Daily Wildcat is home to more than 150 passionate, engaged students – each gaining real-world experience as they hone their skills in journalism, sales, marketing, visual arts and more. Their responsibility: To produce daily, unfettered, editorially-independent news and advertising content for the UA community and beyond.
After more than 100 years, the Wildcat tradition is still strong.
The goal of the Innovation in Media Campaign is to expand support for the Daily Wildcat and its students who are learning new skills and tools for digital newsgathering, storytelling and advertising opportunities. Through DailyWildcat.com, mobile apps, social media, and digital live-streaming with our Student Media partners – KAMP Student Radio and UATV – the Wildcat produces new content across all platforms seven days a week, virtually all year long.
Simply put, the Wildcat is more “daily” than ever.
These changes also inspire excellence. This past year students once again earned significant recognition for their work. This includes national first-place honors for breaking news from the Society of Professional Journalists and special coverage from the Associated Collegiate Press. DailyWildcat.com was named one of ACP’s Online Pacemaker finalists.
With your support, the Daily Wildcat will continue its tradition of being one of the top college media operations in the country. And the students who produce it will graduate with the best experience and the most valuable skills needed to jump into meaningful careers.
Please consider supporting our 2017 priorities:
• Pro-level multimedia kits and accessories (including cameras, lenses, accessories, gearbags, microphones, mic stands) for still photography and video newsgathering
• Mobile technology for the student sales team to work directly with clients and office while in the field
• News and sales travel costs for off-campus and out-of-state training, conferences, networking, and travel related to sports and news coverage
• Help the Wildcat and UATV-3 grow their partnership through purchase of mobile production equipment to allow students to produce and market campus discussion forums, live-broadcast news events, concerts, pre-game shows and more
Professional photographers: Do you have high quality used cameras/lens to offer as an in-kind donation? Please email Brett Fera or call him at (520) 621-3408.
Thank you for contributing to this campaign, and thanks to all our donors who have supported the Wildcat throughout the years!
